Practical Information

The 2018 conference will take place February 1-3, 2018 in Kroon Hall at the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies, in New Haven, Connecticut. The Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies is close to New York City and is a global leader in sustainability policy and research; Kroon Hall, is a state of the art facility which has been certified as LEED Platinum.

From I-91 or I-95

Arriving in New Haven take I-91 north towards Hartford, and immediately exit on Exit 3 (Trumbull Street) into the center of New Haven. On the exit ramp stay in the middle lane, and continue straight onto Trumbull Street. At the fifth traffic light, turn right onto Prospect Street. Drive one block on Prospect St., continue straight through the first traffic light (Sachem Street), and Kroon Hall (195 Prospect Street) is the second building on the righthand side of the street. Metered parking is available on the opposite side of the street.

By Plane

Tweed New Haven Airport is 15 minutes from the Yale campus by car or taxi. La Guardia, JFK, and Newark airports are 2 hours from New Haven by train. There is also frequent limousine and shuttle service from major airports. Airport access is easier from La Guardia - take the M60 bus to Harlem-125th Street Station, and take the Metro North train to New Haven. From JFK, passengers must take subway to Grand Central Station, or take the NYC airporter shuttle to Grand Central. See details at MTA

By Train

Metro-North commuter trains run every hour from New York’s Grand Central Station to New Haven’s Union Station. Amtrak train service is also available from Hartford, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, DC and other points in the northeast.

There is a taxi stand in front of the New Haven station, and it would be less than a 10 minute ride to campus.

In New Haven

ISTF will provide shuttle service between the New Haven train station, Omni and The Study hotels, and the Yale School of Forestry during the conference.

Biking and Walking

The area surrounding downtown New Haven and Yale University are walkable and bikeable. We highly encourage everyone to take advantage of these to limit GHG emissions and congestion.

Shuttle Schedule

Shuttle services will be available to and from the conference venue and select local hotels during the following hours:

  • Thursday: 2-3 pm, 5-6, 8-9 pm
  • Friday: 8-9 am, 12-1 pm, 3-4 pm, 5-6 pm, 7-8 pm
  • Saturday: 8-9 am, 12-1 pm, 3-4 pm, 5-7 pm
