Vice Minister of Strategic Development of Natural Resources, Peru

Mr. Quijandia coordinates development and environmental planning for the government of Peru. Previously, he has consulted with the Inter-American Development Bank and the Nature Conservancy in Peru.

John Reid

Founder & President, Conservation Strategies Fund

John Reid created Conservation Strategies Fund as an independent technical organization with the aim of spreading economics skills among conservation professionals. In 2012 CSF was recognized with the MacArthur Foundation’s Award for Creative and Effective Institutions.

Mariana Sarmiento

Director, Environmental Programs, Fundepublico, Colombia

Mariana Sarmiento directs environmental programs at Fundepublico, an NGO in Colombia. Her work focuses on conservation policy, finance, and biodiversity offsets. She also writes and consults for Forest Trends.

As co-director of the Yale Center for Business and the Environment, Brad Gentry’s work explores the opportunities for using private investment to improve environmental performance. He has written extensively on the links between private investment and environmental performance, including the book Private Capital Flows and the Environment: Lessons from Latin America.
