Katherine is a doctoral candidate in Yale’s combined anthropology and environmental studies program. She holds a BA in Anthropology from Macalester College and has conducted extensive fieldwork in tropical forests in Madagascar, Indonesia, and the Congo Basin with a focus on primate conservation. Her dissertation research uses transdisciplinary methods (ecological, ethnographic, archival) to understand the relationships between gorillas, chimpanzees, people, and swamp forests in the Republic of Congo.
