Laura is a Colombian second-year PhD student at Yale School of the Environment and holds a BSc and MSc in Biology. Her research focuses on the impacts of human activities on ecosystems through land use and land cover changes (LULC). Specifically, she explores how climatic and socioeconomic drivers shape forest fire dynamics and affect the Amazon rainforest. Laura’s work combines remote sensing, geospatial analysis, and statistical modeling to inform conservation and management strategies to enhance ecosystem resilience.
