Manuel is a 3rd year PhD candidate at the Yale School of the Environment. His research is focused on secondary forest regeneration in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. He has an undergraduate degree in Ecological Restoration and Forestry from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in plant biology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
