María Alejandra is a first-year Master of Forest Sciences (MFS) ’26 candidate at Yale School of Environment. She holds a B.S. in Forest Sciences from the University of British Columbia, from Vancouver, Canada. She is originally from Panama and has experience working there in forestry research projects as an intern in the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute. She also worked as the Science and Certification Coordinator at Futuro Forestal, a reforestation company based in Panama. She is interested in tropical forests, especially their resilience to climate change. She is working in Dr. Liza Comita’s Lab, which looks into dynamics shaping plant communities at different scales.
