Maria is a Master of Environmental Management candidate at the Yale School of the Environment, specializing in ecosystem management and conservation. She brings extensive experience working in sustainability and decarbonization consulting, advising both the public and private sectors. She supported local governments in Mexico in developing climate policies and led the launch of a sustainability consulting practice for an international energy company. Maria also has expertise in carbon markets and carbon project design, providing consultancy services to carbon traders and their clients on carbon accounting, marginal abatement cost quantification, and decarbonization claims. At Yale, Maria is deepening her focus on nature-based solutions, working to bridge financial capital with the needs of local communities in tropical ecosystems across Latin America. Her research explores how to better account for social and economic dimensions to create value chains for sustainable products. Passionate about environmental protection and cultural diversity, Maria aspires to design and implement ecosystem restoration initiatives that empower local landowners. Maria holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico.
