Patrícia is a Postgraduate Associate at the Yale School of Environment. Her background is in Environmental and Energy Engineering, and she will soon hold a joint PhD in Geophysics from the University of Lisbon and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Her research focuses on fire and climate dynamics in Brazilian biomes, particularly the tropical savannas of Cerrado and the Pantanal wetlands. She has authored several scientific articles and book chapters on the subject, some of which have been cited in the latest IPCC AR6 report. She has also contributed to the United Nations’ Rapid Assessment Report “Spreading like Wildfire”. Her postdoctoral work in YSE includes studying the current and future climatic vulnerability of the Amazon to destructive wildfires.
