Sophie Roberts is a second-year Master of Forest Science student at Yale School of the Environment. Her research is focused on monitoring tree diversity in tropical agroforestry systems using remote sensing and exploring barriers to enhanced farm diversity across social and geographic factors. Prior to starting her graduate program, Sophie received a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from the University of California, Los Angeles. She then worked as a remote sensing researcher at the forest carbon monitoring nonprofit, CTrees. Sophie is especially interested in equitable, community-led forest conservation and restoration, and she currently serves as a director of Yale’s Society for Ecological Restoration chapter.
